Theatre Royal Stratford East
“Kerry Michael’s Theatre Royal is always challenging and provocative and has become a beacon for local young talent” (Bill Morris, Director Culture, Ceremonies & Education London 2012 blog 1st Nov 07)
Led since 2004 by Artistic Director Kerry Michael, the Theatre is located in the heart of Stratford, East London – within, officially, the UK’s most diverse borough. TRSE reflects and celebrates the vibrancy of contemporary multiculturalism.
The theatre is a Grade II* listed Victorian theatre that attracts over 140,000 visitors a year but its partnerships extend beyond the London Borough of Newham to be London-wide, National and International. It is renowned for developing new award winning work for all sections of the community and has been recoginsed as a pioneer in developing new audiences. It has been evolving this idea with its partners since March 2006 and is particularly excited about the empowerment its gives local emerging artists, the festival’s inbuilt legacy and the huge growing resource of international network that it creates.
